BOOK CLUB RETURNS SUN, FEB 23
Our next book club pick is CONVENIENCE STORE WOMAN by Sayaka Murata, translated from the Japanese by Ginny Tapley Takemori.
It tells the story of a Tokyo sales clerk named Keiko. She is weird. She takes a job at โSmile Mart.โ One of the things Kyle โ who picked this book for the February book club โ loves to repeat to customers about this book is that it made its author so famous that she had to quit her job at the convenience store โ yes, she too worked for years at a convenience store โ because she was getting interrupted by readers so often.
Free and all welcome, nothing required but you showing up with your book, and what better place for us to convene to discuss this novel of the retail experience than our Queen St. W. store, after hours.
