L'Oiseau Rouge (The Red Bird)

Un chat rouge. Pardon…! Un oiseau rouge, qui ressemble étrangement à un chat, demande à un oiseau bleu vivant dans une cage de lui montrer comment voler.

Méfiant, l’oiseau bleu lui explique qu’il lui est impossible de lui montrer de l’intérieur de sa cage. L’oiseau rouge lui offre d’ouvrir la porte pour qu’il lui montre. « Mais si je sors, tu me manges », lui répond l’oiseau bleu.

Après Le croco qui vit chez papi, Élodie Duhameau revient avec son deuxième livre en tant qu’autrice-illustratrice. Il s’agit cette fois d’une fable contemporaine mettant en vedette un chat rouge qui se prend pour un oiseau (ou qui le fait peut-être seulement pour arriver à ses fins, qui sait ?) et un oiseau bleu peut-être plus futé qu’il en a l’air. Une confrontation fort amusante qui amènera le lecteur à se poser plusieurs questions.

Suspicious, the blue bird explains to him that it is impossible to show him the inside of his cage. The red bird offers to open the door so he can show it to him. “But if I go out, you eat me,” replies the blue bird.

After The Crocodile Who Lives at Grandpa's, Élodie Duhameau returns with her second book as author-illustrator. This time it is a contemporary fable featuring a red cat who thinks he is a bird (or perhaps only does so to achieve his ends, who knows?) and a blue bird perhaps more so. smart as he looks. A very amusing confrontation which will lead the reader to ask several questions.
