SHORT AND SWEET NEW FICTION

Biblioasis Book Launch for Carys Davies's The Redemption of Galen Pike and Terry Griggs's The Discovery of Honey > APRIL 28

Windsor-based purveyors of some of Canada’s finest literature, Biblioasis, invites you to a Toronto launch of two of their latest collections of short fiction: Carys Davies’s The Redemption of Galen Pike and Terry Griggs's The Discovery of Honey. The Redemption of Galen Pike feature seventeen short stories that read “as if Mark Twain and Annie Proulx had sat down at a desk together.” Davies is joined by Terry Griggs, who will introduce her suite of short stories narrated by a precocious and nosily omniscient central character named Hero.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Carys Davies’s short stories have been widely published in magazines and anthologies and broadcast on BBC Radio 4. They have won the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize, the Society of Authors’ Olive Cook Award, the Royal Society of Literature’s V S Pritchett Prize, and a Northern Writers' Award, and been shortlisted and longlisted for many others. Before turning to fiction she worked for 15 years as a journalist, mostly in New York and Chicago, writing for The Guardian, The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, and Marie Claire, where she was a contributing editor.

Terry Griggs is the author of the Cat’s Eye Corner Trilogy, which, consisting of the books Cat’s Eye Corner, The Silver Door, and Invisible Ink, have been nominated for multiple children’s writing awards. She is also the author of three novels for adults, including Thought You Were Dead, listed as a Globe 100 pick, and the Roger’s Writers Trust nominated Rogue’s Wedding. Her short fiction collection Quickening was shortlisted for the Governor General’s Award, and she has been awarded the Marian Engel Award in recognition for a distinguished body of work. She lives in Stratford, Ontario, with her family.
